5th General Assembly of the ETP SmartGrids

The European Technology Platform on SmartGrids (ETP SG) celebrated in Brussels its 5th General Assembly on Wednesday 29th April. It was attended by over 200 participants.

The ETP SG view on future Research priorities for the ongoing H2020 programme was presented and debated. The report, launched on the occasion, provides detailed recommendations to the European Commission for RD&I funding needs for the next years; it also describes existing regulatory barriers for the implementation of technologies. The report is available for download here.

The General Assembly was attended by Marie Donnelly, Director at DG ENER and Andras Siegler, Director at DG RTD. They both praised the work achieved until now by the ETP SG and asked the members to keep working jointly together to continue providing a coherent and balanced vision for future RD& I needs for Smartgrids in Europe.

During the 5th General Assembly the 1st European Innovative SmartGrids Solutions Competition was held. 14 projects competed for the award and finally, "Meltemi Community Pilot Site" was selected by the participants as the most innovative project. See all the projects here.

The ETP and National SmartGrids Initiatives – Cooperation Workshop and Presentation of SmartGrids Booklet

The day prior to the 5th GA, the ETP invited National and Regional SmartGrids platforms to a workshop which aimed at an information exchange of ongoing activities and discussion about future cooperation with the ETP. The workshop brought together 25 participants from 11 platforms in Europe.

ETP SmartGrids Workshop on Future Technology and Research Priorities for SmartGrids in Europe, Focus: Smart Meters for Distribution Networks – Data and Control

In the context of the SMART GRIDS WEEK Vienna 2015, the ETP organizes a half-day workshop on Tuesday, 19th May in the afternoon in collaboration with national SmartGrids platforms of Central Europe. The workshop aims at an exchange between National SmartGrids priorities versus European ones and will have a special focus on smart meters for planning, design and operation in the distribution networks.

Public consultation about the Initial Integrated R&D Implementation Plan 2016-2018

The Grid+Storage consortium made public its Initial integrated R&I Implementation Plan 2016-2018. Research and Innovation activities on the integration of energy storage into electricity networks are detailed, thanks to a cooperation between energy storage specialists and network operators.

Cyprus had the privilege to host on the 26th March 2015 an important initiative for the establishment of the Mediterranean Technology Platform for Smart Grids (MedTP4SG) with the participation of representatives from European organizations, Member States and Third Countries of the Mediterranean.
