July 2015

Busy year ahead for the ETP Smartgrids!

After a very successful General Assembly where the European Technology Platform presented its joint recommendations for upcoming Research and Innovation for the next H2020 Work-Programme, many new activities are being started.

New ad hoc groups are working on the use of smart meter data for network operation, resilience and security and power electronics at the distribution level. Moreover, activities continue within each of the Working Groups (WG) of the platform. WG 1, dealing with Network Operation and Assets, is now working on topics like asset management and its members support the ad hoc groups. WG2 focusing on storage, is aiming to issue a paper on the most promising storage technologies for smartgrids in Europe. Finally, WG3 which focuses on Demand side, metering and retail, has started to work on Energy Digitalisation as well as Cyber security.

Working groups and ad hoc groups are constantly evolving and the work undertaken is the fruit of the voluntary involvement of experts around Europe. If you would like to dedicate some time and share your expertise to help devising the future of Smartgrids you are welcome to do so!
