1st European Smartgrids Innovative Solutions Competition

During the 5th General Assembly the 1st European Innovative SmartGrids Solutions Competition was held. 14 projects competed for the award and finally, "Meltemi Community Pilot Site" promoted by the National Technical University of Athens was selected by the participants as the most innovative project.

Listed below, ordered alphabetically, all the projects presented in the Competition.

 

 

BESOS:  Building Energy decision Support systems for Smart cities

BESOS project objective is the development of an advanced, integrated, management system which enables energy efficiency in smart cities from a holistic perspective.

Bidelek Sareak: Smarter Grids for Bilbao

Bidelek Sareak is a joint initiative of Iberdrola Distribución Eléctrica and the Basque Government to implement a real and comprehensive Smart Grids development in the electricity grid of Bilbao.

Capacity to Customers – C2C

The capacity to customers solution comprises the use of post-contingency Demand Response  and enhanced network automation and reconfiguration schemes.

CLASS: Customer Load Active System Services

By controlling the voltage on primary substations it is possible to unlock a demand response service leveragin the positive correlation between supplied voltage and drawn demand. Manage the demand without involving customers.

eBADGE: Development of Novel ICT tools for integrated Balancing Market Enabling Aggregated Demand Response and Distributed Generation Capacity

eBadge proposes an optimal pan-European Intelligent Balancing mechanism, which is also able to integrate Virtual Power Plant Systems by means of an integrated communication infrastructure that can assist in the management of the electricity Transmission and Distribution grids in an optimized, controlled and secure manner.

i-Sare Micro Grid

Experimental infraestructure in the field of micro grids located in San Sebastian (Spain). The aim is to create an efficient, reliable and secure interoperable microgrid to serve as a test bench to develop and validate the status of different distributes renewable generators.

Meltemi Community Pilot Site

It consists of 170 cottages providing a perfect living test field that has been employed in several European and national R&D projects. It has been used to validate methods of intelligent load management and increasing use of RES. A video presentation of the project can be watched here.

NOBEL GRID: New Cost Efficient Business Models for Flexible Smart Grids

NOBEL GRID will develop, deploy and evaluate advanced tools and ICT services for all the actors in the Smart Grid to provide benefits from cheaper prices and clean energy.

PREMASOL: Predicting and Managing Solar Power Production

Two main solutions provided by the project are: development of a software that provides predictions of PV production and development of a Gateway with control algorithm of the active and reactive power.
